Merodak is a demigod character who can manipulate rivers and lakes through a water-shaped serpent. Every year, Babylon hosts a deadly regatta in which Ea, the many-handed river god, officiates and torments the players by flipping their sailboats. The entire game was overseen by the Babylonian tyrant Merodak.
